Trip to Leh

There were supposed to be people in the a small village , a village parched precariously on top of a mountain , The snow had covered the most part of the land at this time of the winter and there was not a soul visible in the village when i arrived there.
The huge dogs were tied down outside some of the houses and the cold wind was taking the toll on the dogs, somehow the dogs did not like the cold wind even though they are well adapted to the environment and the weather.
The Trail that bought me here to this remote village was one of the toughest i had ever been on foot. The Trail Cris-crossed small streams , deep forests , woodland and then the ever lasting patch of grey dusty land without a glimpse anything through out the horizon.
There was no trees for the shelter and the constant blowing of the wind had taken a heavy toll on my body as well . Then out of the blue i saw this village on the top of the mountain . It was like finding a oasis in the middle of the desert after walking for days in the hot sun . I sat down and started to collect my thoughts and asked questions to myself am i hallucinating or is this village a imagination of my mind , The Fatigue , stress and the lack of oxygen in these altitudes can make the human brain to work in a totally different way where one is not sure of what is real and what is imaginative.
Slowly i was sinking into the thoughts and was falling asleep and suddenly i was awakened by a distant howling of the wolfs and came to my senses . When i looked up and gazed across i could still see the village and i became sure that i have in fact stumbled upon a village in the middle of nowhere . But to reach that i had to climb a huge mountain and the little bit of sunshine that was left was fast fading and soon it will be dark and cold and spending the night in this cold unforgiven place without the fire would be suicidal .

As soon as these thoughts came to my mind , I got up and started searching for the bits and pieces of wood , But wood at these altitudes are hard to find . I realized that only way i can lit a fire at this place without the wood is to find some Yak Dung so i started searching frantically all over the place and could collect a hand full of these . Then i found the trunk of a tree fallen in the pit , i gathered myself and went in to that pit and got the wood that was much needed to survive in this place. I was exhausted by this time and my body and mind was crying for rest , water , food and warmth of the fire .

Soon i made my self a fire, The Radiant color of fire was such a joy after all the exhaustion and this relieved my mind for a moment and my thoughts were cleared . I opened the back pack and got a mug, a pack of noodles and some red meat. Kept the mug on the fire and poured some water in to it , As the water was getting boiled, i opened the pack of noodles and put that in the hot water . I got the chunk of red meat and started cutting into small pieces with the knife . I put all the pieces of meat into the mug and let it boil. After couple of minutes I got the mug and for the first time in the day felt relived seeing the food . I soon started gulping down all the things and almost choked. As all the food went into my body i was re-energized and those thoughts started coming back again .

As I settled down in my sleeping bag and started gazing into the sky , I realized that the sun had already faded and there was nothing but the total darkness. In the distance on top of the mountain i could see the glimpse of a lamps from a house. That was my challenge for the next day to reach that village and to feel like human again. That's all i wanted at this point . I had been alone for so long now that i had forgotten how to greet a another human being , It is as if i am from a different planet and on a visit to earth. Soon i was falling asleep and i could not care for anything at this point of time.

A huge knocking sound woke me up violently. I was startled and got up and saw that i am sleeping on my bed in my home . How could this happen i was in the mountain were i had eaten half baked red meat and slept on the patch of land. It was a Dream and what a dream it was . It was so real i still could not believe that it was dream , But the Reality was i was on the bed in my home and my mom was knocking on the door so that i wake up . This was the dream that all started my trip to Leh . I was hooked on to the openness , the barren land , the bone chilling cold and that sense of being nowhere . There was only one thing that was running on my mind that as soon as possible i should visit the Leh. The Date in the watch was Apr 2.

Finally i get the chance to re-visit this and see where it has stopped. Anyway i will be not writing about this as i will be going to shimla , manali again on september 25th but this time on bikes. So after that i shall update the blog and post some snaps too :)

Another Weekend Passes by

Another dull and gloomy day of the weather here has kept most of folks in the house for the weekend . Not many people were around outside when we went around to enjoy the dull and lazy weather. But there are lot of things happening in the TV that sure can keep anyone inside the home . The F1 race is somehow loosing interest for me at least as Kimmi is not able give a good fight to others , As far as the Cricket is concerned the T20 World Cup has kick started with a bang ,what a cracker of a match we had where the minnows Netherlands beat the England at their opening game of the tournament , This has put the points table into disarray. On the other hand the mighty Australia was conquered by the Gayle Storm that no one could have stopped. What a display of power hitting that was by Gayle , It is clearly visible why he does not like the Test Cricket. Oh at last how can anyone forget the French Open where the Fed Express again wins one more Grand Slam but a very important one from his personal point of view . The French open was the one Grand Slam he was not able to win from many years but finally the last frontier is also conquered. what a great achievement now he equals Pete Sampras for the Highest No of Grand Slams that are won.
